APAAR ID and UDISE+: A Simple Guide for School Offices

What APAAR ID and UDISE+ mean for your school office, what student details you need, and how clean student records in your school ERP make the work quicker.

Every school in India now hears two terms from the education department again and again: UDISE+ and APAAR ID. Both depend on one thing your office already has, student records. This guide explains each in plain words. Always follow the latest instructions from your board and the official portals, as the steps can change.

What is UDISE+?

UDISE+ (Unified District Information System for Education Plus) is the Ministry of Education’s system for collecting data from every school in India: the school itself, its teachers, its facilities and its students. Each school has a UDISE code, and schools update their data every year on the UDISE+ portal.

What is APAAR ID?

APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) is a lifelong student ID, often called “One Nation, One Student ID”. It is meant to follow a student from school to college, holding their academic records and linking with DigiLocker. Schools usually create APAAR IDs for their students through UDISE+, with the parent’s consent.

Why student details must match

Most delays come from small mismatches: a name spelled one way in the school register and another way on Aadhaar, or a wrong date of birth. Before APAAR or UDISE+ work begins, check that every student record has:

  • Full name exactly as on Aadhaar.
  • Date of birth and gender.
  • Mother’s and father’s names, and a working mobile number.
  • Current class, section and admission number.

Keep one clean student list

If your school keeps student details in several registers and Excel files, they will drift apart. Keeping one student list, used for attendance, fees and exams, means corrections are made once and every report agrees.

EduMaxim does not file UDISE+ or APAAR data for you. What it does is keep every student’s details in one place, with student information system records the office can search and update in seconds, so the data you enter on the official portals is the same data your school uses every day.
